Hair Transplant Repair

Our goal has never been to deliver just good hair transplant services . Rather, we strive to deliver truly exceptional hair transplant and hair restoration services to our clients, service so good that it stands out from the rest. This requires a constant search for ways to improve the hair transplant procedure. We cannot rest on our laurels, assuming that we're doing things well enough. We can always be better. Below, are just some of the more important hair transplant innovations developed at Samson Hair Restoration to better serve our clients. There will be others...

"We cannot rest on our laurels, we can always be better."

Zone Restoration

Ask someone considering a hair transplant procedure how much hair, or how many grafts, he needs and you'll likely get a blank stare. Does he need 1000 hair grafts? 2000? 3000? He doesn't know and he doesn't really care. Ask him what 1500 hair grafts looks like when grown in and again, he doesn't know. What he cares about is that he has hair missing in an area where he previously had it, and he'd like it back. He looks to the experts, the hair transplant physicians, to tell him what he needs.

Most hair transplant practices sell hair transplantation services by the hair graft, for example $10/graft or $7/graft or $5/graft. The prospective client is typically given a range of possible hair grafts he can have and is left to pick the number of hair grafts for his procedure based upon his budget. This doesn't make sense to us. The client may end up paying for a number of hair grafts that won't make enough of a difference. At Samson Hair Restoration, we think the prospective hair transplant client should be informed about how much it will cost to get hair back in the area that it has been lost, and of course, approximately the number of hair grafts required to achieve that. In other words, we focus on the area, or hair loss zone, in which a person is losing hair and when restoring hair, we focus on transplanting as much hair into that zone of hair loss as is needed.

"The hair transplant client better understands what he/she is getting."

The result is that the hair transplant client better understands what he/she is getting and we concentrate on maximizing the client's result in a given area. One other analogy may help convey this even better: imagine going in for a haircut and the hair stylist telling you that she charges 1 cent per hair shaft cut. You'd probably look at her like she was crazy. You don't know how many hair shafts are cut during a typical haircut, and you don't care. You don't know how much you'd be paying for your haircut with this approach. All you know is that your hair is too long and you want it cut shorter. We think charging by the graft for hair transplantation is like charging by the number of hair shafts cut during a haircut. It just doesn't make much sense.

What is a Hair Loss Zone?
A hair loss zone is an area of the scalp in which a person may experience hair loss (see diagram). The emphasis on hair loss zones allows the hair transplant physician and patient to communicate more clearly about the focus of the hair transplant procedure. Hair transplant patients can better understand what they are getting in a procedure. Typically, hair transplant patients desire results in certain areas and these areas correspond to Samson Hair Restoration's hair loss zones. Through our Hair Loss Zone Restoration Approach, your Samson Hair Restoration physician will concentrate hair in a particular hair loss zone as a way of providing more impact with each procedure. Whether a patient does one hair loss zone or all, he or she will get the maximum impact in each hair loss zone. We do not concern ourselves with any set number of hair grafts, but rather with providing the maximum impact in the hair loss zone. Our hair transplant physicians transplant as many hair grafts as they can to achieve that impact.

Pyllo Anesthesia System
In research about patient attitudes toward hair transplant procedures, we In research about hair transplant patient attitudes toward hair transplant procedures, we recognized that clients' fear of pain was a huge factor in whether or not they decided to have a hair transplant procedure. Further, pain was the single greatest reason people did not return for a second hair transplant procedure, even though they needed it. In conjunction with leading anesthesiologists, we developed a system of dermatophoretic induction anesthesia that we call our Pyllo Anesthesia System to address these concerns about pain. It makes the hair transplant procedure almost completely painless.

"Pain was the single greatest reason people did not return for a second hair transplant procedure, even though they needed it.""

In our research, using the Pyllo System, we asked clients to rate the pain of their hair transplant procedures on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being worst. To date, no one has rated the pain higher than a 2. Most say it's a 1 or 2. Many say it's painless. Consider the following actual, unedited comments on the day of his hair transplant procedure from one hair stylist:

"Pain was a non-event. Maybe a 1 [on a scale of 1 - 10]. Under a 1. Really more like a halfŠ I've had clients [who had procedures at places other than Samson] tell me I should get gassed before doing the procedure. They said it hurt like hell. I haven't had any pain. It's been nothing. I can recommend my clients to you guys knowing the pain is a non-event. I'm blown away."
Craig Nadel Owner, The Barber Shop (procedure of 1978 grafts, Aug 2006)

Quadrian Hairline Technique
The field of hair transplantation has come a long way since its founding in the 1960s and 70s. In the beginning, and even continuing into the late 1990s, the field was usually known more for its bad work. Plugs. Many people have seen these unsightly results, results similar to those pictured below.

    Not a Samson Hair Transplant

In the mid-90s, the procedures underwent a quantum leap in naturalness due to the development of follicular unit grafting. Gone were the plugs and doll's hair appearance. However, there were other problems with these procedures that made them detectable and unnatural. The photos below illustrate the major problem: poor front hairlines. To address this problem, we developed our Quadrian Hairline Technique.

"If the physician masters these four variables, he/she will produce outstanding results."

The Quadrian Hairline Technique focuses on perfecting four key variables in hairline design: location, shape, texture and composition. If the physician masters these four variables, he/she will produce outstanding results, results like those pictured below:

Renaissance Technique
Most people who have hair transplantation need at least two procedures to achieve a satisfactory result. This causes many to ask, "What will I look like after one procedure?" No one wants to look half done, like a work-in-progress. We developed our Renaissance Technique for just such people. This technique results in a natural, yet thinning look after one procedure. If the client decides not to have a second procedure, then he won't look unnatural or incomplete. This technique allows clients to wait for their first procedure to fully grow in before committing to a second.

"If the client decides not to have a second procedure, then he won't look unnatural or incomplete."

The photo below is of a patient who had extensive loss and only one procedure. As you can see, his result still looks natural.
